SARCAN

Prince Albert SARCAN is doing their part for local employment creation, environmental protection and economic development.  The Prince Albert and District Community Service Centre operate our two Prince Albert SARCAN depots.

As part of a provincial network of 71 depots in 63 communities across Saskatchewan the two SARCAN locations in Prince Albert employ 30 people and receive approximately 75 - 100000 beverage containers per day and approximately 30 million per year.

At SARCAN, we are proud of the role we play in protecting and preserving the environment, but we know we couldn’t do it without help. Every single trip Saskatchewan residents make to SARCAN makes a difference.  Thanks to the commitment of Saskatchewan residents the number of containers recycled continues to rise every year. Everything dropped off at SARCAN including paint, electronics and used beverage containers are always processed to be recycled.  Nothing is later dumped off at a landfill.

We are keeping Saskatchewan beautiful and keeping containers off of the road but what we are also doing through recycling as well is we are able to provide so many job opportunities.

Established in 1988 the SARCAN system for recycling is one of the most efficient and effective in North America. SARCAN Recycling provides environmental protection, employment creation and economic development through a province-wide network for recycling beverage containers, paint and electronics.

At SARCAN, we are proud of that three E-motto and it defines how we operate.

Employment creation: SARCAN employs people of all abilities and the majority of our employees are either persons with disabilities or those formerly on social assistance.

Economic Development: Each year, SARCAN returns deposit funds paid on containers to the people of Saskatchewan.  TeleMiracle is our charity of choice and over the last 10 years we have raised close to half a million dollars for the charity.

Environmental protection: On average, SARCAN’s across the province recycle over 400 million beverage containers per year.

All of the materials SARCAN recycles turn into useful everyday products – click here to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbGLFSa5vC0
